The Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) has condemned the reported attacks on its office and shops and houses of several party leaders at Karulai here on Wednesday.

A press note issued here said the house and vehicles of party’s Nilambur constituency president P. Usman also came under attack.

The Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) and the Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) were behind the attack, SDPI district president V.T. Ikramul Haq and general secretary Jaleel Neelambra said.

It was part of the kind of politics practised by IUML and DYFI, they said.

The DYFI and IUML were upset over the increasing public support for SDPI in Karulai panchayat.
