KOCHI: A special syndicate meeting of the Cochin University of Science and Technology on Tuesday recommended a judicial probe into the alleged difficulties faced by the SC/ST students in the admissions to the university in 2007.

The meeting accepted a report submitted by a syndicate sub-committee that probed the allegations. The report had held A. Ramachandran, Registrar and K. Sajan, Director, International Relations and Academic Admissions (IRAA) unit, responsible for the denial of admissions to the SC/ST students.

Based on the recommendation for a judicial probe, the Registrar expressed his willingness to relinquish charges while continuing as a faculty member of the School of Industrial Fisheries. The syndicate accepted the request and handed over the charge of Registrar to Sebastian Ouseph, Finance officer of the university. K. Sajan was relieved of his charge as Director of IRAA unit.
