: Transport Minister V.S. Sivakumar will inaugurate the Revenue District School Science Fair and Information Technology (IT) Mela organised by the Department of General Education at St. Mary's Higher Secondary School here on December 1.
More than 7,500 students from lower primary, upper primary, high school, and higher secondary classes would take part in the three-day event, which will include display of school projects on subjects such as Mathematics, Social Science, Work Experience and IT. The students from the 12 sub-districts who had secured the first and second positions would take part in the work experience mela.
“More than 150 stalls had been arranged in the school for presenting science projects .The mela would be open to the public on December 3, the last day,” Mayor K. Chandrika told a press meet here on Monday. The mela would be conducted according to the revised fair manual of 2009. Lunch would be provided to all students and teachers escorting them, she added.
Science and social science mela would be on December 1 and 2 and the work experience mela on December 2 and 3. Various facilities such as computer labs and multimedia equipment had been arranged at the school for the IT event.
Competitions would be held for the science section in 15 categories, for Mathematics in 12 categories, and for social science in 20 categories (UP Section), and 25 categories (HS/ VHSS section).
In the work experience mela, competitions would be held in 35 categories (HS/VHSS sections) and 25 categories (LP/UP sections). There will be 13 categories for the IT Mela. The science drama will be held on December 1.
The valedictory function will be inaugurated by Shashi Tharoor, MP, on December 3. The registration will begin at 8 a.m. on December 10.
