Payyannur Regional Vocational Expo 2013, to be organised by the K.P.R. Gopalan Smaraka Government Vocational Higher Secondary School at Kalliassery in Kannur, will begin at the school on November 15 and 16.

Students from 41 Vocational Higher Secondary Schools in Kannur and Kasaragod districts will take part in the two-day mega event. The expo is conducted mainly for the promotion and sale of the products made by the students of engineering, paramedical, fashion technology and agriculture courses.

The products to be exhibited will be the direct outcome of the production-cum-training centre of vocational higher secondary schools. These centres aimed at developing multifaceted as well as innovative technological skills in students, K.C. Siju, principal of the school and one of the organisers, said in a statement here.

He said such fairs helped build awareness among the public of the need for vocational education.

Minister for Agriculture K.P. Mohanan would inaugurate the expo on November 15. An organising committee with Leena Ravidas, Assistant Director, VHSE Payyannur region, as general convener, and K. Govindan, president, Kalliassery grama panchayat as chairman had been formed, he said.
