KOCHI: Children at the Thripunithura Thekkumbhagam Government UP School are readying themselves to make the best out of what will be the millennium’s longest solar eclipse, on Friday.

The children have set out on their quest to watch the eclipse and to learn some lessons from it with an initiative from the School Science Club.

Most of the children have got ready their own eye-wears to watch the eclipse, said the headmistress of the school Beena U.P.

The school teachers have also conducted special lessons on solar eclipses during the past few days to prepare the children for the big day.

Screening of video CDs on solar eclipses and discussions on them have been part of the school activity in the run-up to Friday’s event. As the children update their knowledge first hand, they will discuss their new findings on Friday at the solar festival — ‘Sourotsavam,’ being organised at the school the following Tuesday.
