KOCHI: The Sree Sankaracharya University of Sanskrit has announced its postgraduate academic programmes for 2006-07.
Courses offered at various centres of the university are as follows: Main centre, Kalady: MA in Malayalam, Hindi, English, history, philosophy, music, dance (Bharatanatyam and Mohiniyattom), theatre, comparative literature, Sanskrit Sahitya, Vedanta, Vyakarana, Nyaya, psychology and Vedic studies, MSW and postgraduate diploma in tourism and translation and office proceedings in Hindi.
Regional Centre, Thiruvananthapuram: MA Malayalam, Hindi, history, Sanskrit Sahitya, Vedanta, Vyakarana, Nyaya and English.
Panmana: MA Malayalam, Hindi, Sanskrit general and Vedanta.
Thuravoor: MA Malayalam, Sanskrit Sahitya, history and MSW.
Tirur: MA Malayalam, Sanskrit Sahitya, Vyakarana, Arabic, Hindi, History and MSW.
Koyilandy: MA Urdu, Sanskrit Sahitya, Vedanta and Malayalam.
Payannur: MA Malayalam, Hindi, history, philosophy, Sanskrit Sahitya, Vyakarana and Vedanta, MSW and certificate courses in Kannada and Jyotisham.
Those with Bachelor's degrees in any discipline may apply. Candidates appearing for the final year or semester degree examinations can also apply. Admission of these candidates will be provisional and will be regularised on production of qualifying certificates on or before September 30. Bachelor's degrees are required for applying to postgraduate programmes in music and dance.
Admission to postgraduate programmes will be based on the marks obtained in the entrance examination. For MA theatre course, the university will conduct an aptitude test for the candidates.
The entrance test for MA and postgraduate diploma courses will be held from May 27 to 30 at Thiruvananthapuram, Panmana, Ettumanoor, Kalady, Thuravoor, Thrissur, Tirur, Koyilandy and Payannur.
The test for the MSW course will be held on May 31 at the main centre in Kalady and regional centres at Thuravoor, Tirur and Payannur. The last date for submitting applications is May 10.
