Minister for Local Self-government Paloli Mohammed Kutty will inaugurate the State-level launch of pre-monsoon sanitation campaign at Town Hall on Thursday at 11 a.m. MLAs Dominic Presentation, V. K. Ibrahim Kunju, C. M. Dinesh Mani, and K. Babu, and District Collector Sheikh Pareed will be present.

Programmes

Various programmes in connection with the campaign that will last till June will be held at ward-levels. Formation of a sanitation collective and sanitation squad, ward-level sanitation mapping, action plan at the local body level, propagating dry day message at household level, and awareness campaigns are some of the programmes planned.

Ward members will have to take the initiative in roping in students and voluntary workers for sanitation mapping and formulation of action plan.

Assistance of reading libraries, voluntary organisations, residents associations, youth organisations, women's groups, Kudumbasree units, schools, health institutions, and village-level officials will also be taken.

The action plan should be formulated at the ward-level sanitation collective.

Sanitation squads will create awareness of the importance of pre-monsoon sanitation through household visits.

The squad will explain the activities to be undertaken in observing dry day once a week.
