Software developed by IT@School makes school management easier
Details of around 60 lakh students from Standard 1 to 12, in over 15,000 schools in the State, will now be easily accessible to school authorities. Project Sampoorna, a school management system developed under the aegis of Kerala State IT@School, will have the details of students and staff of all schools in the State.
According to an official press release, Sampoorna, developed in Free Software, will be deployed in all high schools in the State as part of the 100-day programme of the government. Cumbersome processes such as preparation of transfer certificate; copying of admission register; generating of reports related to students, parents, teachers and non-teaching staff; lists for scholarships; preparation of progress reports, SSLC examination database, promotion list and entry forms for sports and cultural events will be made easier with the software. A timetable-preparation software has also been integrated to it.
According to K. Anvar Sadath, Executive Director, IT@School Project, Sampoorna has been visualised as a mechanism to track a student's progress and even determining his/her aptitude right from when he/she is admitted in class 1.
As part of deployment of Sampoorna, training for headmasters and school IT co-ordinators has been completed in all 14 districts. Class teachers have been instructed to crosscheck students' details entered in the project's data collection form with that of the information available in the admission register. Parents should also validate the information entered in these forms. From this year, the details available in Sampoorna will be the source for preparing SSLC certificates. It would also be used for Plus One admissions.
Sampoorna will also be integrated with the Unique Identity Number (UID) scheme. Director of Public Instruction A. Shajahan has instructed all high schools in the State to collect details of all students before August 31. The circular issued in this regard is available at the websites www.education.kerala.gov.in/
