The Ernakulam Chief Judicial Magistrate Court on Friday recorded in camera the statements of two more accused police officers who expressed their wish to turn approvers in a case relating to the custodial death of Sampath.
The accused whose statements were recorded are civil police officers Abdul Khayum and Mohammed Shameer.
Assistant Sub-Inspector Purushothaman Pillai and senior civil police officer Ramadas appeared on Thursday and gave their statements before the magistrate court. The police officers are now on bail.
The other accused in the case C.K. Ramachandran, Deputy Superintendent of Police; P.V. Ramesh and T.N. Unnikrishnan, Sub-Inspectors; and Shyama Prasad, police officer, are in judicial custody.
The High Court had earlier dismissed the bail pleas of these four accused.
