The Bharathapuzha Samrakshana Samithi has urged the government to order an inquiry by the Vigilance Department into the utilisation of money from the River Management Fund in the State. A meeting of the Samithi held here on Friday said that although the fund was for utilisation within the district, it was being diverted to other districts and for other purposes. The samithy said Rs.20.29 crore was diverted from the River Management Fund of Thiruvanathapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Ernakulam, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, and Kannur to the Natural Calamity Relief Funds of Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, Wayanad, and Kasaragod.
