The Sahridaya Awards 2011, instituted by the Kerala Readers and Writers' Circle, have been announced. Jury member Seethi K. Vayalar told media persons here on Friday the award was instituted 40 years ago.
The individual awards for overall contribution to various fields were bagged by V.P. Gangadharan (health awareness), P.K. Parakkadavu (literature), Paul Manalil, M.K. Ramesh Kumar (journalism), Faby Basheer (memoirs), Kanesh Punoor (columns), P.T. Nissar, Job Maliyekkal (Photo journalism) and Ajeeb Komachi (photography).
The other awardees are K.P. Jaleel, M.K.M. Jaffer (investigative journalism), Plavu Jayan (environment), T.P.M. Ibrahim Khan (education), Almanar monthly magazine (role in renaissance), Bismi (anti-dowry movement), P.A. The awards consist of a citation, memento and a shawl.
It will be presented to the winners during the concluding ceremony of the silver jubilee of Salafi Times magazine, in Kochi on April 16.
