CPI leader addresses election meeting at Kodungalloor
The LDF is all set to shatter the hopes of the UDF about the general anti-incumbency trend in State elections, general secretary of the Communist Party of India A.B. Bardhan has said.
He was addressing a campaign meeting of CPI candidates for Kodungalloor and Kaipamangalam K.G. Sivanandan and V.S. Sunil Kumar respectively at Kodungalloor on Saturday.
“The UDF comforts itself by thinking that their turn will come this time. But the Left parties are known for making records. Kerala witnessed the first Communist government in the country. We will create another record this time by changing the ruling pattern,” he said.
He said there was no anti-incumbency factor working against the ruling LDF ahead of the April 13 Assembly elections. Mr. Bardhan urged the electorate to judge the political parties according to their performances in the past not on their promises or election manifestos.
“The UDF manifesto promises rice for Re. 1. How will people trust a party which approached the court to stay an order of the LDF government to distribute rice for Rs.2 for the poor. The UPA government in the Centre has been talking about the Food Security Bill for the last few years. Till now, they don't have any clue about who are the poor in the country.”
“Thanks to the effective housing schemes launched by the LDF government, no family in the State will be left homeless by the next five years, he said. Kerala's public distribution system was a model to the entire country, he said. Revenue Minister K.P. Rajendran; CPI(M) district secretary A.C. Moideen; CPI district secretary C. N. Jayadevan; former district panchayat president Ambadi Venu; candidates K. G. Sivanandan and V.S. Sunikumar were among others who participated at the meeting.
