KOLLAM: A district committee meeting of the Revolutionary Socialist Party, convened here on Friday to examine the causes for the defeat of the Left Democratic Front candidates in the Lok Sabha elections in the district, concluded that the “unilateral stand of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) on seat allocation” was one of the main causes for the debacle.

This was mentioned in a signed statement released to the media by RSP district secretary A.A. Aziz MLA. It said that the stand adopted by the CPI(M) had confused the voters and resulted in many LDF supporters voting for the United Democratic Front.

The statement said that the defeat suffered in Kollam was only part of the State-wide anti-LDF mood. The meeting was presided over by RSP leader P.K. Divakaran. Party leader N.K. Premachandran also attended.
