Rs.6.38 crore for Kanjirappally-Erumeli road

Link roads to ease MC Road traffic: Mons Joseph

KOTTAYAM: The State government has sanctioned Rs.28 crore for the heavy maintenance work to be taken up in connection with the development of the Sabarimala roads, Mons Joseph, Minister for Public Works has said.

This include Rs.4.70 crore for the construction of the accident-prone Kanamala causeway, Rs.8.86 crore for the Plappally-Chalakkayam road, Rs.5.67 crore for Kanamala-Elavumkal road and Rs.6.38 crore for Kanjirappally-Erumeli road, he said.

One of the priority areas would be the completion of the bridge at the Kanamala causeway, he said and added that the investigation and boring works had commenced in February this year.

The government hopes to complete it within two years, he said. He said the government has sanctioned Rs.8.75 crore for the Ettumanur-Manarcadu bypass road.

The new road would link the Ernakulam-Ettumanur, Kottayam-Muvattupuzha, Ettumanur-Pala and Kottayam-Kumily roads. Moreover, the new road would go a long way in easing the traffic pressure on MC Road at Ettumanur town, he said.
