The Grama Sabha of the Attappady block panchayat on Monday approved a labour budget of Rs.14.69 crore for 2012-13. Inaugurating the meeting at Agali, N. Shamsudeen, MLA, said that 8,530 people in Attappady block would be given employment during 2012-13 under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme.

Job figures

In Agali grama panchayat 4,100 people, Sholayur 2,320, and in Pudur grama panchayat 2,110 people would be given jobs, he said.

Block Programme Officer P.V. Radhakrishnan said Rs.7.06 crore would be spent as wage in Agali grama panchayat, Rs.4 crore in Sholayur, and Rs.3.63 in Pudur grama panchayat during the period.
