THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Finance Minister T.M. Thomas Isaac has agreed to sanction Rs.14 crore for the widening and improvement of Bakery Junction-Poojappura road, said V. Sivankutty, MLA, in a statement here on Monday.

The 2.6-km-long stretch currently has width varying from nine to three metres. The proposed project plans to widen the stretch to 14 metres four-lane stretch. Apart from this, two-metre footpaths will be built on either side of the road, the statement said.

The project also proposes the construction of an underpass at Vazhuthacaud junction. The statement added that the land acquisition activities for the project have been initiated by the Thiruvananthapuram Development Authority (TRIDA).
