As much as Rs.one crore will be used for development works at Palchuram colony of Kottiyoor panchayat adopted by the Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) under the Gandhi Gramam project, KPCC president Ramesh Chennithala has said.

During his day-long visit to the colony on the Kannur-Wayanad border on Thursday, Mr. Chennithala also sanctioned Rs.two lakh for the renovation of a house in the colony.

Funds will be sought from the Scheduled Caste Development Department for the renovation of other houses in the colony.

A total of 45 families resided in the 34 houses in the region. The inhabitants predominantly belonged to the Kurava caste and were migrants from Thiruvananathapuram and Kollam districts.

An interaction programme with the residents was also held to discuss the needs of the region.

Job opportunities

Job opportunities for qualified people residing in the region and funds for medical treatment were also provided by the KPCC.
