PATHANAMTHITTA: Activists of the Pannivelichira Protection Council (PPC) will stage a road blockade at Thekkemala junction, near Kozhencherry, on Monday.

The blockade is in protest against the delay in distribution of title deeds for the land which is in their possession at Pannivelichira.

Addressing a press conference here on Saturday, Pannivelichira Protection Council leaders Salim, M.T. Vasudevan and Soman said that the protesters would block traffic on the Kozhencherry-Aranmula Road and Kozhencherry-Pathanamthitta Road at Thekkemala from 8.30 a.m. on Monday.

The PPC leaders said that around 160 poor families were living in an extent of about 55 acres of poromboke land at Pannivelichira in Thottappuzhasserry panchayat limits since 1957.

The government had issued possession certificates to them in 1992.

However, the possession certificates seldom helped them to get credit from various banks for housing as well as educational purposes of their children, they alleged.
