Air India will deploy Boeing 747 Jumbo Jets to reintroduce its direct flight between here and Riyadh in Saudi Arabia from December 5. The airline had suspended the Riyadh service from here and limited operations between Kochi and Riyadh following the strike by a section of its pilots.
Airline sources told The Hindu here on Thursday that the aircraft could carry 423 passengers — 12 in first class, 26 in business class and 385 in economy class.
The service, on Wednesdays and Fridays, is being introduced in the winter schedule coming into effect on Sunday. Flight AI 928 will take off from Riyadh at 6 a.m. (local time) and reach Thiruvananthapuram at 1.10 p.m. Flight AI 929 will leave here at 2.40 p.m. and arrive at Riyadh at 4.45 p.m. (local time).
The national carrier will operate daily flights between Thiruvananthapuram and Sharjah using A-320 aircraft. Flight AI 967 will leave here at 7.40 p.m. and reach Sharjah at 10.25 p.m. (local time). Flight AI 968 flight will leave Sharjah at five minutes past midnight (local time) and reach here at 5.35 a.m.
The daily flight from Thiruvananthapuram to Male and back will be operated using A-320 aircraft. Flight AI 263 will leave here at 10.10 a.m. and reach Male at 10.40 a.m. Flight AI 264 will leave Male at 11.30 a.m. and arrive here at 1 p.m.
In the domestic sector, Air India will deploy A-321 aircraft for the daily flight from Thiruvananthapuram to Delhi, via Kochi, and back. Flight AI 466 will leave here at 6 a.m. and arrive in Kochi at 6.45 p.m. The flight will take off from Kochi at 7.25 a.m. and reach Delhi at 10.25 a.m.
Flight AI 048 will leave Delhi at 5.30 p.m. and arrive in Kochi at 8.30 p.m. The flight will take off from Kochi at 9.15 p.m. and land here at 10 p.m. The flight from Delhi will have international status and will land at the new terminal on the city side, airline sources said.
With this, international passengers arriving via Delhi to Thiruvananthapuram and Kochi on the flight can do immigration and customs formalities at Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram and the baggage will be tagged accordingly.
Air India will operate daily Mumbai and Chennai flights using A-320 aircraft.
Flight AI 667 flight will leave here at 6.30 a.m. and reach Mumbai at 8.35 a.m. Flight AI 668 will take off from Mumbai at 9.15 a.m. and reach here at 11.35 a.m.
The daily flights to Bangalore will also use A-320 aircraft. Flight AI 263 will depart from Bangalore at 8.30 a.m. and arrive here at 9.30 a.m. Flight AI 264 flight from here will operate only on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday, leaving at 1.50 p.m. and reaching Bangalore at 3 p.m. On Tuesday, flight AI 264 will depart from Thiruvananthapuram at 3.15 p.m. and reach Chennai at 4.30 p.m.
