State Human Rights Commission member R. Natarajan has issued orders asking the State Police Chief to keep away a sub-inspector from law and order duties for three years.

According to an SHRC release here, the order was passed against Thrissur Vellikulangara sub-inspector M.I. Baby following a complaint from Congress mandalam president T.M. Chandran.

Mr. Chandran approached the commission stating that Mr. Baby was harassing him after Mr. Chandran refused to help him to transfer the Chalakkudy Deputy Superintendent of Police and the Kodakara Circle Inspector, who Mr. Baby alleged were implicating him in false cases.

Allegations denied

Mr. Baby denied the allegations before the commission.

However, the commission found out from a report submitted by the Thrissur district police chief that there were several other complaints against the SI.

Observing that Mr. Baby was not behaving in accordance with the dignity of the post that he held, the commission ordered that he be kept off law and order duties, in order to preserve the respectability of the police force, and till he repented his actions.
