Kozhikode: Syed Bilal Ahamed, a Railways employee who helped one of the survivors of the Air India Express flight that crashed in Mangalore reach a hospital for medical help, has been given a cash award of Rs.25,000.

Union Minister of State for Railways E. Ahamed announced the reward after the survivor narrated how Mr. Bilal Ahamed had helped him. The Minister was visiting the survivors at the hospital where they are undergoing treatment.

Mr. Bilal Ahamed, track man of gang number 13 under section engineer, Mangalore, had summoned help as soon as he saw the injured survivor and arranged a vehicle, with the help of two local persons, to take him to hospital.
