Communist parties should revamp their ideas and accelerate their democratisation process, Communist Party of India (CPI) national executive committee member Kanam Rajendran has said. He was inaugurating a function organised here on Tuesday by the Socialist Samvada Vedi (SSV) to commemorate the birth anniversary of Communist leader K. Damodaran.

Mr. Rajendran said Communist parties should take the initiative to address the country’s domestic issues by focusing on objective realities. Stating that the unity of the Communist parties was the dream of the late leader, he said contemporary India required the unity of those with Leftist minds.

The Marxists should show a critical commitment to the Marxist ideology. SSV president ‘Berlin’ Kunhanandan Nair presided. Documentary film-maker K.P. Sasi took part in a discussion on the contemporary relevance of K. Damodaran.
