Temporary repair works of the Vadakunnathan temple here has begun. The Archaeological Survey of India began the works of the damaged top floor of the South Gopura of the temple.

“Currently we are doing temporary repair works of the South Gopura. It will be completed before the Thrissur pooram. The long-term renovation will be done after the Pooram,” said ASI Superintendent N. Nambirajan.

The maintenance of the East Gopura will be undertaken jointly by the Cochin, Thiruvamabdi and the Paramekkavu Devawoms with the permission of the ASI.

A monitoring panel with the District Collector, ASI, representatives of Cochin, Paramekkavu and Thiruvambadi devaswoms, and temple welfare committee as members will monitor the progress of the work.
