Biju Radhakrishnan and Saritha S. Nair, prime accused in the solar scam case, were remanded in custody for two more weeks on Thursday in a case of allegedly duping three persons of Rs.1.75 lakh on the promise of arranging dealership for a wind power unit.

Hosdurg First Class Judicial Magistrate Court judge Rajeevan Vachal remanded them in custody till September 26. Earlier, they were remanded in custody on August 29, Deputy Superintendent of Police (Dy.SP) P. Thamban told The Hindu .

Disguising as partners of the Coimbatore-based ICMS windmill power unit, Biju and Saritha had taken the money in two instalments from P.K. Madhavan Nair of Madikkai, T. Hamsa of Kottachery, and C.H. Ibrahim of Ajanur in January last year.

A controversy erupted over taking the two to the PWD rest house here shortly after their arrival from Thodupuzha here at 6.30 a.m. The Dy.SP said they were taken to the rest house as there were no adequate toilet facilities elsewhere.
