KOCHI: The Television Chamber of Kerala has decided to introduce a registration system for the shooting of telefilms and musical albums in the State.

The move is aimed at putting an end to sexual exploitation by miscreants under the guise of making telefilms and music albums, Chamber president K.V. Shaji and actors Captain Raju, Sajan Palluruthy and Rajeev Rangan said at a press conference. The Chamber also plans to provide identity cards to its members, including actors and technicians, soon.

Many of the news reports that recently appeared in the media on controversial issues "baselessly linked the accused to television industry especially the television serial industry." This has affected the goodwill and morale of the thousands of people in the industry, they pointed out. The Chamber also submitted representations to the union of journalists and publishing houses requesting them to refrain from publishing unfounded news linking sex rackets to the television industry.
