A 15-year-old dispute between two groups in the INTUC affiliated to the Kerala Kasuandi Thozhilali Congress (KKTC) gaining legal recognition has been finally settled.

Last week Kollam Additional Sub Court Judge E. Baiju granted recognition to the KKTC group led by Chief Minister Oommen Chandy as president and Congress leader V. Sathyaseelan as general secretary. During the time of the legal dispute, the groups functioned as two separate entities bearing the same name. Separate election procedures were also held to elect the leaders. The court verdict has now granted recognition only to the office-bearers elected by the group led by Mr. Chandy and Mr. Sathyaseelan. The issue was taken to court by the group opposed to Mr. Sathyaseelan.
