The District Kudumbasree Mission organised a ‘reality show' here on Tuesday. The ‘contestants' were 23 Community Development Societies (CDS), whose five-member teams detailed the methods adopted by each of them to promote micro-enterprises among women.

The CDS members themselves were the judges and they assessed the performance of their colleagues collectively. Each team initially made a 10-minute presentation of their projects and later answered questions from audience. Most of them presented slideshows and video clippings.

The 23 finalists had been selected from 82 societies operating in various panchayats. The screening process was done by Kudumbasree officials after checking the details furnished by each contestant in their application.

N.K. Hareesh, Assistant District Mission Coordinator of Kudumbasree, said, “The show opened door for the CDS collectives to familiarise themselves with strategies adopted by their contemporaries in the sector.” He said there were even units which managed to get over Rs.3 crore loans a year.
