Blames Centre for rise in prices
Says steps taken by the government satisfactory
Plans rally from Kasaragod to Thiruvananthapuram
KOLLAM: The All India Youth Federation (AIYF) has decided to launch an agitation demanding restoration of the ration quota of the State.
At a press conference here on Tuesday, AIYF State secretary P.S. Supal said that the agitation would be carried forward till the Centre restored the quota.
He pointed out that 82 per cent of the ration quota had been slashed. He said that the ration quota was not a charity of the Centre but a right of the people of the State.
He said that the AIYF was satisfied with the measures being taken by the government to deal with the rise in prices of commodities.
He blamed the Central policies for the price spiral.
The green signal given to the foreign monopolists to enter the retail market sector of the State was the prime cause for the price rise, he alleged.
Highlighting the demand “oppose the monopolists and save the nation”, the AIYF, as part of a nation-wide agitation, would take out a march to the Raj Bhavan and the Central government offices at district headquarters on May 23.
The rally “Rajya Rakhsa March” coincides with the fourth anniversary of the UPA government.
A State-wide campaign for the march would commence from Kasaragod on May 3. It would conclude in Thiruvananthapuram on May 18.
