KOTTAYAM: It was a surprise birthday gift for Jaben George when his teacher at Brilliant Study Centre told him over phone that he had secured third position in the All India Medical Entrance examinations. He got 164 marks out of 200.

A Class XII student of Placid Vidya Vihar, belonging to the Kristu Jyothi group of Institutions Jaben, had scored 96.2 per cent at the Class XII examinations.

The soft-spoken Jaben prepared for the exam with a “five-hour study schedule.” His other interest is cricket.

He has also appeared for Kerala Entrance and GIPMER and is planning to appear for the All India Institute of Medical Sciences entrance examinations.

Preference

His preferred institution now is Kottayam Government Medical College.

Jaben, who lives with his parents in Changanassery town, is the second child of V.V. Georgekutty, retired Sales Tax Deputy Commissioner, and Nirmala George, teacher at the Department of Chemistry, Assumption College, Changanassery.

His elder sister Elyne George is an engineer with Infosys, Bangalore.
