ALAPPUZHA: An alleged case of ragging in a prominent private school here took an ugly turn on Wednesday when the victim, a female Plus One student, was reportedly booed by other students and had to return home, unable to attend classes.

The series of events began unfolding on Monday, when a Plus Two student, along with his friends, allegedly teased the girl. The girl was allegedly slapped by the boy, with her spectacles being broken. With the girl’s parents lodging a police complaint, the Alappuzha North police on Tuesday registered a case against the boy under the Prevention of Ragging Act.

However, on Thursday, when the girl arrived for classes as usual, she was reportedly booed and teased by other students, following which she broke down. Her parents arrived and she had to return home without attending classes. Her parents have accused the school of going soft on the boy while the school has denied it.
