Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation K.C. Venugopal will inaugurate the new state-of-the-art radar system installed by the Airports Authority of India (AAI) at the Cochin International Airport Limited on Friday.

The radar set up at a cost of Rs. 16 crore will significantly benefit the aviation community and air passengers. The system will considerably reduce the take off and landing time by enabling air traffic controllers to give direct and shorter routes to aircraft. It will also help minimize fuel consumption.

The radar system is the latest addition to the slew of modernisation measures at Kochi airport. The modern Enroute Radar System will bring the entire airspace up to 250 nautical miles from Kochi under radar scan.
