: The Public Works Department (PWD) will launch a sustainable infrastructure development programme, SPEED Kerala, (Sustainable and Planned Effort to Ensure Development of infrastructure) comprising 23 projects, at an estimated cost of Rs.10,000 crore, said Minister for Works V.K. Ebrahim Kunju.

The Minister told reporters here on Thursday that the Kerala Road Fund Board had been entrusted with the task of resource collection and overall execution of the project. While due representation would be given to all districts, various agencies under the department would also have a key role in completing the works. The detailed project reports for the works will be prepared soon. Other than the KRFB, the Kerala State Transport Project, Roads and Bridges Corporation Kerala, Roads and Bridges wing of the department, Kerala State Construction Corporation, NATPAC, National Highways and Kochi Metro Rail Corporation would be part of the execution process. As in the previous years, the department had set a record in spending Plan allocation, he said. A general consultancy agreement had been signed with the DMRC for the monorail projects.
