Kochi: The Public Works Department (PWD) on Wednesday filed a petition before the Kerala High Court seeking a week’s time to file an affidavit as directed by the court on the details of the works given the previous years for repairing the Banerji, Shanmugham and Edapally-Thevara Roads.

The petition filed by the Executive Engineer, PWD, Roads and Bridge Division, said the details of the works executed during the previous years had to be collected from the offices of the Executive Engineer, National Highway, Kodungalloor, the Superintending Engineer, Roads and Bridges, Aluva, and the Executive Engineer, Roads and Bridges, Ernakulam. In spite of the earnest efforts, all the details could not be collected. The petition said that there was no wilful disobedience to the court order.

‘Produce original’

The court also directed the PWD to produce the original chart of the roads in the city as the copy of the chart given to the court was misleading. The directives were issued when a writ petition seeking to repair the roads in Kochi came up.

When the petition came up before Justice Pius Kuriakose on Wednesday, the judge avoided hearing the road case.

The case would come up before another judge.
