Kerala Congress(M) general secretary and former MLA Joseph M. Puthussery has called upon the government to take action against DIG of police S. Sreejith on the basis of inquiry reports submitted by two former Additional Director-Generals of Police, which have found him guilty in various cases.

In a statement here on Thursday, Mr. Puthussery said three inquiry reports, implicating the DIG in 2008 itself, were pending action before the government.

Probe welcomed

He said the Home Minister’s order directing the State Police Chief to conduct a probe into the allegation that the DIG had helped K.A. Rauf, a relative of Industries Minister P.K. Kunhalikutty, in a land deal in Karnataka was a welcome step.

He said the government should not delay action against Mr. Sreejith on the basis of the earlier inquiry reports.
