The pongala ritual of the Puthiyakavu Sree Bhagawathy temple here will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday. Temple committee office-bearers said thousands of devotees from various parts of the State would take part in the ritual. Melsanthi T.N. Abilash will light the ceremonial hearth at 10 a.m.

The ritual marks the conclusion of the 12-day festival of the temple. Pongala kits were being distributed from the temple.

The ritual will be performed along an earmarked area of the city and the organisers had created 25 blocks for the purpose. As many as 150 ‘sevaks' attached to the temple will supervise the conduct of the ritual. The areas earmarked include the Chinnakada traffic round, Press Club maidan, railway goods shed complex, Chinnakada overbridge, clock tower area, East police station complex, RMS ground, the Karbala road, the QAC road, the SP office road, the FCI godown road, and the Puthiyakavu temple road.
