KANNUR: Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) president P. Sreeramakrishnan has demanded resignation of Puducherry Health Minister E. Valsaraj in the wake of an ‘order’ for inquiry by a Vigilance court into alleged irregularities involving over Rs.1 crore in a land deal by a cooperative society, of which he is the president.

Mr. Sreeramakrishnan said the irregularities were found in the purchase of two acres of land at Pallur in Mahe by the society at a rate 10 times higher than government rate. The DYFI started a 24-hour fast in Mahe from Wednesday evening demanding Mr. Valsaraj’s resignation.
