PSS sets aside Rs.50 lakh in its budget for disbursal to palliyoda karayogams

Palliyoda Seva Sanghom, the apex body of palliyoda karayogams that own snakeboats, presented its annual budget of Rs. 2.28 crore for the financial year 2013-14.

Presenting the budget at the PSS general body meet held at Aranmula, Ratheesh R. Mohan, sanghom secretary, said each karayogam would get a grant of Rs.1 lakh for repair and maintenance of their snakeboats. The sanghom had set aside Rs.50 lakh in the budget for disbursing this annual grant, he said.

Mr. Mohan said the budget had earmarked Rs.5 lakh each for a sewage treatment plant and solar power plant at Aranmula. This was apart from the budget allocation of Rs.1 lakh each for service activities and temple affairs; Rs.50,000 for computerisation; Rs.2 lakh for conducting Vanchippattu workshop; Rs.3 lakh for Uthrittathi snakeboat regatta; and Rs.1 crore for the vallasadya offering (vazhipadu), he said.

Mr. Mohan said the PSS expected to get Rs.53 lakh as annual grant; Rs.1.35 crore by conducting vallasadya; district panchayat grant of Rs.3.5 lakh; and MP fund of Rs.4 lakh. P. Mohanachandran and Mr. Mohan have been appointed the conveners of the publicity sub-committee and G. Suresh, the food committee convener.

The conveners of other sub-committees are: N.P. Sankaranarayana Pillai (reception); K.G. Kartha (programme); R. Baburaj (accommodation); Vijayan Nair (race); Raveendran Nair (rescue); Rajendrakumar (volunteer); K. Appukkuttan Nair (souvenir); A.G. Rajmohanan Nair (media co-ordinator); and Sriraj (crisis management).
