The National Highway 17 Action Council staged a protest march and dharna at Chelari, near Calicut University, on Friday in protest against the police action on those opposing toll collection at Paliyekkara.
Action Council district convener Abu Lais Tenhipalam and leaders such as K.P. Paul, C.P. Yunus, C. Aboobacker, and Saidalavi Thalappara led the march.
C.P. Abdurahman, P.M. Hasan Haji, N. Kunhalan Haji, Ibrahim Chelembra, and Labban Kakkanchery addressed the protestors. Mr. Lais presided over the dharna.
