Protect heritage sites

It has been reported that the prehistoric Edakkal caves in Wayanad face a serious threat from illegal granite quarrying close to the caves, apart from a flurry of construction activity. There are other heritage sites such as the huge laterite rocks in Malappuram and Angadipuram that face similar threats. The heritage sites at Kodungallor and St. Francis Church in Kochi where Vasco da Gama was buried are also in ruins. It is imperative that the Geological Survey of India and the State government take steps to protect these heritage sites for posterity.

LDF stand insincere

The proposed strike by LDF service organisations against contributory pension is not sincere.

Contributory pension will have to be implemented when the LDF comes to power next time. This is the history of the agitations against computer, pre-degree board, self-financing educational institutions etc.

Moreover, the CPI(M) which is leading the LDF, wants to divert attention from the role of party leaders in political murders in the State. The people have become aware that the CPI(M) is maintaining gangs to eliminate its rivals.

The CPI(M) is using the employees as a front in a bid overcome the crisis in the party.
