Kudumbasree will launch Jyothirgamaya project for widows in the district in February. The first phase of the project, organised in association with the district panchayat, is a survey to enumerate widows and assess their social and financial status.

The project aims at providing training and monetary aid for new business ventures. There will be counselling sessions to overcome loneliness and attain financial security.

Another project by the Kudumbasree is the Arpana scheme for home nurses. For this, five people from each panchayat will be selected and trained. Offices will be opened for the project at the block level.

Apart from these, one family-one account scheme and orientation classes for ‘Ayalkoottam’ members are the other programmes to be initiated this month.
