The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) is organising a telecom consumer outreach programme at 2.30 p.m. on Thursday at Hotel Marina Residency here.

Dr. Sibichan K. Mathew, Adviser, TRAI, will speak on the rights and duties of consumers as well as subscribers of cell phones, land phones and cable TV.

A spokesman for TRAI said on Wednesday the objective of the programme was to spread awareness about TRAI’s grievance mechanism, procedure for filing appeal, and for stopping commercial and unwanted calls.

The programme was of special relevance to Kerala which had a mobile subscriber base of 31.23 million and landline subscribers of 3.01 million.

At present, eight telecom service providers were operating in the State.
