Event by MSM begins today

Nurturing social commitment amongst professional college students and sensitising them to cyber crimes and other disruptive activities will be the focus of the 17th national conference of professional students, being organised by the Mujahid Students Movement (MSM) here, from Friday to Sunday.

The event organised by the State committee of the MSM, the students’ wing of the Kerala Nadvathul Mujahidheen (KNM), will be held in 16 sessions at three venues on the JDT Islam Campus at Vellimadukunnu in the city, according to a release issued by its organisers on Wednesday. The event’s theme is ‘Beyond Science’.


Academic sessions in English, Malayalam, Arabic and Urdu languages will be part of the programme, which will have participants from Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Delhi, Bihar, and Jammu and Kashmir besides Kerala. Debates, leaders’ assembly, girls’ congregation, open forum and parenting session will be some of the important segments of the conference.

The conference will also discuss the emerging challenges and possibilities in the professional education sector, said the release.

Noted educationist and writer Abdur Raheem McCarthy from the U.S. will inaugurate the conference on Friday evening. Organising committee chairman C.P. Kunhumuhammed will preside over the function and general secretary of the All India Ahle Hadeez Imam Asgarali Mehdi will be the chief guest. Home Minister Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan, Minister of State for External Affairs E. Ahamed, Industries Minister P.K. Kunhalikutty, District Collector K.V. Mohan Kumar and Calicut University Vice Chancellor M. Abdul Salam will be other prominent speakers.
