Thrissur: Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee president Ramesh Chennithala has described as “politically motivated” the proposed Vigilance investigation against the former Minister for Public Works P.J. Joseph following allegations of irregularities in construction works in the Public Works Department (PWD).

Mr. Ramesh 0Chennithala was addressing a Meet-the-press programme at the Thrissur Press Club on Wednesday.

Asked whether his statement constituted a softened stand towards Mr. Joseph ahead of the talks in the United Democratic Front (UDF) on the proposed merger between the Kerala Congress (M) and Kerala Congress (J), Mr. Chennithala answered in the negative.
