Hundreds of believers gathered for the Christmas day Mass in churches in all parts of the district.

People belonging to other communities also joined the celebrations at Christian homes. They exchanged gifts and pleasantries on the occasion.

The churches in the city were decked up with cribs, stars and colourful lights. Special mid-night Masses and lectures were held to welcome Christmas at the Mother of God Cathedral; St. Joseph’s Church on Kannur Road; St. Patrick’s Church; St. Michael’s Church at West Hill; Christ the King at Malaparamba; Holy Redeemers at Vellimadukunnu, Cheruvannur Sacred Hearts Church; Chathamangalam Morning Star Church, all under the administration of the Kozhikode Diocese.

Bishop Joseph Kalathipparambil led the Mss at the Mother of God Cathedral and Fr. Paul Percy Desilva at the St. Joseph’s Church.

Special prayer congregations were held at Mananchira C.S.I. Cathedral; Jacobite’s Church and Bilathikulam Orthodox Church.
