S. K. Pottekkatt was literally a guiding light for the non-resident Keralites with his passion for bringing to light the unseen social life of various communities outside the nation, said writer C. Radhakrishnan.
He was addressing a literary seminar on the works of S.K. Pottekkatt at the Tagore Centenary Hall, here, on Thursday.
Mr. Radhakrishnan said the travelogues of Pottekkatt created wide awareness among the local community on diverse cultures and social life.
The writer could also emerge as role model by upholding his literary values and principles, he observed.
Referring to the unparalleled narrative style of the writer, Mr. Radhakrishnan said,
In search of man
“His journeys were always in search of human beings belonging to different cultures. Making a difference from others, the writer also kept himself detached from confined groups.”
Novelist Punathil Kunhabdulla inaugurated the seminar. A panel of writers including M.M. Basheer, Kalpetta Narayanan and social critic K.E.N. Kunhammed were present.
