The owners of private buses in the city have threatened to go on strike because of the apathy of the PWD, the Corporation of Kochi and other agencies in resurfacing badly-potholed arterial and side roads.

The Cheranaloor-Edapally Road, Kaloor Junction, the roads in front of Ernakulam Town Hall, the North police station and from Naval Base to Mattancherry bridge, the Paramara Road, St Benedict Road, Chitoor Road, St Teresa's Convent Road, service roads to the NH and Subhash Bose Road are among the badly-potholed stretches. Numerous roads in Thripunithura, West Kochi and the NH 47 bypass too are in a dilapidated condition, with the result that the footboard of buses are hitting the road, said the president of the Ernakulam District Private Bus Operators' Association K A Makkarkunju.
