KOCHI: A post office was inaugurated at the Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences, Ponekkara, on Tuesday by Swami Pooramritananda Puri, general secretary of the Mata Amritanandamayi Math.

Presiding over the function, Shoba Koshy, Chief Post Master General, Central Range, said that the new post office housed in the hospital building free of cost, will benefit about 75,000 visitors to the hospital, the 5,000-odd staff and the people in Ponekkara.

At the function, Dr. Prem Nair, medical director; Dr. Prathapan Nair, principal, Amrita Medical College; Muraleedhar Rao, Brahmasri Dr. Jaggu, Mohanchandran Nair, liaison officer, AIMS; Francis, secretary of the residents’ association in the area and G.P. Nair, Powra Samithi convenor, participated in the function.
