Kerala Congress chairman P.C. Thomas has petitioned the Election Commission of India to initiate an enquiry into the allegations of violation of election expenditure norms. In his complaint registered on Friday, Mr. Thomas accused the Congress party ofproviding Rs.2.5 crore to each party candidate and Rs.1.25 crore each for candidates of supporting parties for electioneering. This is in excess of Rs.70 lakh, which is the permissible limit of expenditure.
