KOZHIKODE: The Kozhikode district committee of the Kerala Senior Citizens’ Forum will hold a protest in front of the collectorate here on October 23 as part of a State-wide campaign for the speedy implementation of a policy for senior citizens. The forum is also demanding an empathetic approach to the problems of the aged on part of government departments and local bodies. The forum is also seeking a hike in old-age pension.

District panchayat president K.P. Kunahmmedkutty will inaugurate the protest. The former Minister A. Sujanapal, novelist U.A. Khader, among others, will address it.

Bank officers’ protest

The State committee of the All-India Bank Officers Association has flayed the reported steps taken by corporate firms to suspend employees and implement a cut in wages.

A ‘mitra sangamam’ of the association held here on Sunday said employees should not be made scapegoats of the economic crisis.

The meeting appreciated the steps taken by the Reserve Bank of India.
