KOCHI: In a case that illustrates how dangerously private buses operate on the roads, a bus hit a police car two times in Thripunithura on Thursday.

P.S. Shyju, sub-inspector of the Hill Palace police station was going to court in a car, accompanied by policemen, when a bus operating between Kottayam and Ernakulam tried to overtake his vehicle. In the process, the bus hit the rear of the car.

A short while later, the bus, which was following behind, rammed the police vehicle again while trying to overtake it. The police officer then stopped the bus and called in more policemen from the station. Cases were registered against Alex Baby, the driver, on charge of rash and negligent driving and Myson, the conductor of the bus, for obstructing the police from discharging their duty.
